Fire..Fire...Burning Bright!

Hundreds of times we have all had our mothers tell us, do not play with FIRE! But I guess the airport authorities that set dry bushes on fire along the runway to clear the area of the Lilabari in Arunachal Pradesh had forgotten this lesson.

Strong winds fanned the fire and spread it to several parts of the airport campus along with the 13 Assam Police Battalion adjacent to the airport engulfing the areas!

Panic-stricken airport authorities called in the fire brigade to douse the fire which was brought under control after several hours.

How incompetent do the airport authority have to be to not get that wind conditions prevalent in the area can make the fire go out of control?!

Magic Act!

A woman traveling from Madrid to Calcutta had to stop at New Delhi before proceeding to her final destination. While getting her bags checked at the X-RAY machine, her luggage disappeared!!!

With over 2000 Euros in the baggage she naturally was upset. After complaining to the Delhi police the bag was recovered 10 minutes later only to be found with 500 Euros missing!

Apparently the police did not want her to lodge a complaint saying that she will only get harassed...Wow! Aren't the authorities getting overtly concerned...Somehow i get this gut feeling that the magicians could very well be the police but that's only me!

Shilajit and Daggers....!

Arrested yesterday a US national of African-American descent at the airport, Winston Marshall was carrying a 5-inch (13-centimeter) knife! Although the most interesting part was that the knife was wrapped rather embedded in Himalayan Shilajit!

Hardcore Shiva devotee or just another one of those airport mysteries that never gets solved!

Look Ma... they are Peeking...!!?

The need for better security is making the whole world go berserk! Nowadays the London airport has installed full body scanners that capture an image of an individual in nude!!

Speaking to a BBC reporter, Shahrukh Khan who was in the city to promote his latest film, told the journalist that even though the authorities claim that the printed images taken by the scanner are destroyed immediately, two female security officers walked up to him with prints of the scans and asked for autographs!!

The world is getting more intrusive everyday. Wonder if the next time I travel to the airport should i wear any clothing or not...?!!

Sniff-Tech!

The electrical engineering department of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Mumbai, on the behest of the government of India has created the world's first E-Sniffer!

Created out of nano technology, this E-Sniffer is coated with chemicals that can sniff out vapor extracts and can track down hard to find RDX!

Costing merely 1000 INR, this device popularly known as E-dog is more efficient than some scanning machines and cheaper to keep than a sniffer dog.

The government is thinking of deploying bunch of these sniffers at public places.

I just hope they don't place it in any public toilet... otherwise the e-dog would probably burn out!

Stepping it Up! (Stepson Scr**s over Dad!)

A day ago an Emirates plane bound for Dubai from Mumbai was held up due to a 'hoax call' that warned of an LeT operative on board.

CISF officials halted the plane and checked thoroughly before detaining one 61-year-old passenger, Shahbaz Khan. After investigation it was found that he was not a threat and the call had apparently been made by his stepson who was involved in a property dispute with Shahbaz Khan. The plane was delayed for over four hours due to this...

Talk about high flying family drama!

Nothing escapes the Third Eye!

Flying from Chennai to Mumbai on Kingfisher Airlines, a passenger discovered on landing that his diamond jewelery worth 14 lakh Rupees was missing from his hand baggage!

Lodging a complaint with the the Chennai police on the advice of the authorities at the Mumbai airport, he hoped for his possessions to turn up. After a few days of investigation the police narrowed in on the trio responsible for this with the help of a CCTV that showed them helping themselves to the jewelery!

The incident was reported as a random targeting, although a question still lingers in my head....how the robbers know exactly which bag within the hand baggage stored the diamonds?..!

Ratted out!

According to reports an Air India flight bound for Riyadh from Kozhikode was delayed due to a rodent who had sneaked its way past the security checks as well as they crew and made its self comfortable in a nook in the plane.

Spotted scurrying on the plane floor, the rat was chased for a few hours before they finally fumigated the entire plane. After several hours of chase the elusive rat was finally caught.

In the course of events it was found that last year around the same time another rodent had gotten on an Air India plane bound for Riyadh at Kozhikode!

Now am I the only one who's getting the feeling like this is some sort of an international rodent nexus that meets at Riyadh every year...!?!

Rude Landing back to Mortal Land!

Koena Mitra known for her curvaceous figure more than her acting skills was stopped at the Banaglore airport and frisked. According to reports the 'star' was approached by 3 uniformed women who apart form telling her that she shouldn't be wearing torn jeans as youngsters looked up to her also tugged on her hair to see whether it was real!

Even after the heavy frisking which Koena complained was too HARD on her the authorities failed to notice a pair of scissors, a nail-filer and three bottles of perfume that she had with her(flouting the security requisites)!

After a brief check the star stormed off without her shoes on! Koena even went on to state that because she was a star she was being targeted....much like Shahrukh Khan.

Hmmm....targeting a celebrity or just bad security?!

Broken Harmony!!?

Ustad Amjad Ali Khan one of most skilled musicians in India and probably the world, was crestfallen when he saw his Sarod (the same one he has been using for the past 25 years) broken.

According to reports the Sarod broke due to mishandling by the Indian Airlines staff.

However the skilled craftsmen from Kolkata repaired it after 10 days of hard work. After playing it for 4 hours continuously Ustad Amjad Ali was overjoyed by the incredible work of the craftsmen and remarked that the Sarod sounded 'Even Better than Before'!

I am wondering whether he should thank the airline or strangle the 'don't give a damn staff' of Air India....!?

Confused Role??!

Recently a Dubai court sentenced a 32-year-old Emirati policewoman for stealing from an Indian passenger. Apparently the 26 year old passenger had dropped his wallet which was later found by the policewoman.

Helping herself to all the money inside, the policewoman then returned the wallet. After being found guilty, she finally confessed to her crime.

Now what was that line....'the long arm'....or was it...'the deep pockets of the law'...?!
